Emory Recreation and Wellness offers a variety of group fitness classes for the Emory community. Classes are open to all current undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, and classes are included in membership fees for WPEC members to access classes at the WPEC, and SAAC members to access classes at the SAAC.

Class size is limited and participants should register for classes on their My RecWell portal. Class schedule is subject to change and patrons will be notified of any changes via their registration.

Group Fitness Classes



  • Reservation is required to participate in any group fitness class and is recommended in advance. If capacity permits, reservation in person will be available. All participants must check in upon arrival.
  • Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of class to get checked in and to set up any equipment.
  • If you arrive more than 5 minutes after the start of class, your reservation will be forfeited. 
  • If you need to cancel your class reservation, you should do so on your My RecWell portal up to 1 hour prior to class time. Failure to cancel reservations may result in loss of class access. 
  • Participants on the waitlist for a class will be notified in the 1 hour window prior to class. 
  • Children under the age 16 are not permitted to participate in group fitness classes.
  • Workout/Athletic clothes, including a top and bottom, and shoes are required in indoor activity areas at all times. Appropriate, non-marking shoes must be worn at all times. Shoes may only be removed in yoga and mind/body classes.
  • Only water and sports drinks in resealable containers are permitted. Glass, food, and chewing gum are prohibited.
  • Small bags may be kept against the walls of the studio, but we highly encourage participants to secure a locker. Emory Recreation & Wellness is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Use gym wipes to clean equipment after each use.
  • Respect for equipment, facilities, staff, and other patrons must be demonstrated at all times. Inappropriate behavior will result in removal and/or loss of recreational privileges.
  • The group fitness instructor reserves the right to ask a participant to leave if these policies are not followed.

Explore movement with ease and balance through flowing sequences and mindful alignment. Welcoming for beginners and rewarding for experienced yogis, this class helps you feel grounded, open, and connected.

Awaken your body and calm your mind through flowing, breath-led movement. With playful sequences that build strength, balance, and flexibility, this all-levels class leaves you refreshed, energized, and centered.

Pause, breathe, and recharge with gentle movement and mindful breathing. Beginner-friendly and grounding, this class restores balance, focus, and energy to carry you through the rest of your day.

Gentle Flow Yoga & Power Flow Yoga @ the SAAC with Melissa – Tuesday at 5:30pm & Saturdays at 11:30am
 

Find balance in your week with two unique practices: Gentle Flow invites you to slow down, release tension, and restore ease, while Power Flow builds strength, balance, and clarity through a dynamic, energizing sequence. Together, these classes create a well-rounded yoga practice to support both body and mind.

Gentle Yoga @ the SAAC with Zi – Wednesdays at 6:30pm 
 

Ease into movement with slow, mindful stretches and simple poses that release tension and support relaxation. This beginner-friendly class restores balance and leaves you feeling refreshed and centered.

Move, groove, and have fun in this upbeat dance class set to the latest hits. With routines broken down for all levels, you’ll build stamina, rhythm, and confidence—leaving energized and smiling.

Mat Pilates and Pilates Burn with Savvy -  Wednesdays at  5:30pm and Thursdays at 12:15pm (30 min) 

Strengthen, stretch, and tone your body in this full-body Pilates class using bodyweight exercises and small props. Suitable for all levels, Savvy’s energizing style builds core strength, improves posture, and leaves you feeling strong, balanced, and ready for the day.

Torch calories, tone muscles, and move to the beat in this full-body workout. Using weights, bands, and bodyweight exercises, Amanda’s energizing class leaves you strong, sculpted, and motivated.

Amanda  

Amanda is a current PhD student in Epidemiology here at Emory with seven years of experience teaching Group Fitness classes, a passion she discovered as an undergraduate student in Virginia. In her free time, she likes reading and exploring new parks with her Boxer puppy, Cain.  

Candice  

Candice is a dedicated Pilates instructor and owner of Soul & Body Pilates, fully certified on both reformer and mat. She is passionate about promoting holistic wellness and believes Pilates is for everyone, helping clients build strength, flexibility, and balance through precise, transformative instruction. Outside of Pilates, Candice serves as a Civil Rights Investigator at Emory and is the Wellness Vice Chair of the State Bar of Georgia, where she works to normalize well-being for lawyers. A former triathlete and proud mother of two, she enjoys traveling to warm, beach-filled destinations whenever she can. 

Cecilia  

Cecilia is in her second year teaching spin at Emory, where she leads classes with energy, positivity, and a focus on community. By day, she’s a tech marketer, dog mom, and aspiring children’s book author. She discovered spin in college at Florida State University and believes fitness is key to both mental and physical health, especially for students. Cecilia welcomes all fitness levels and encourages students to listen to their bodies while enjoying the fun, supportive environment she creates. Her goal is to make fitness a space for connection, joy, and radical self-acceptance. 

Maki  

A dancer from Japan with over 10 years of teaching experience, Maki brings expertise, creativity, and passion to every class. She has choreographed and directed performances for major sports events, including the Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta United, and Georgia Tech women’s basketball halftime shows. Known for her dynamic style and engaging instruction, she inspires dancers of all levels to build skill, confidence, and a love for movement.

Melissa  

Melissa teaches yoga as a practice of surrender, helping students release stress and quiet the mind. Her classes are challenging yet welcoming and safe, meeting students at every level and focusing on process over outcome. 

Teaching full-time since 2006, Melissa was Co-Director of the Southeast Yoga Conference for 12 years and has been featured on local TV, wellness podcasts, and public radio. She also co-leads international retreats through FLOW Yoga Retreats in destinations including Belize, Portugal, Mexico, Croatia, and the Galapagos Islands. 

Savvy 

Savvy is a sophomore with a passion for fitness, yoga, and Pilates. She loves sharing movement with others, helping students build strength, flexibility, and confidence in a welcoming environment. Outside of teaching, Savvy enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring nature, and staying active. 

Stacy  

Stacy is a live-music loving yogi who teaches with a playful spirit and compassionate heart. She began practicing yoga in 2008 and has continued ever since, exploring Ashtanga, Alignment-Based Yoga, and the principles of Aparigraha (letting go). Stacy completed her 200-hour Teacher Training with Gina Minyard in 2014 and now shares joyful, sustainable yoga practices with her students. 

She is also a Certified Holistic Health Coach and Reiki Level 2 Practitioner. When she’s not teaching, Stacy enjoys practicing yoga, dancing in her kitchen, buying concert tickets, and going on adventures with her family. 

Tani  

Taneisha is the Coordinator of Group Fitness and Instructional Programs at Emory and a PE instructor teaching boxing, now in her second semester. With 10 years of experience leading classes ranging from dance to senior fitness, she believes movement is the key to freedom and peace. Taneisha loves sharing her passion for fitness and strives to make a meaningful impact in every class she teaches.

Scheduling & Requests 

  • Event/Class Time: Time charged will typically be 75 minutes, which encompasses arrival & set-up, instruction time, and class dismissal & clean-up. 
  • Advance Notice:  Requests must be submitted at least 2-3 weeks in advance to allow  time for instructor scheduling and logistics. 
  • Confirmation: Bookings are not confirmed until you receive written confirmation from Recreation & Wellness. 
  • Peak Times: Requests during high-demand times (e.g. evenings or finals week) may have limited availability.  
  • Priority of Scheduling: Mobile Fitness requests may be secondary to academic, varsity, or department wide events when competing for space or staffing.  
  • Maximum Group Size: Class size may be limited depending on space and equipment needed.  

Instructor & Staffing  

  • Instructor Assignment: Recreation & Wellness will assign an instructor based on availability and class type requested. Specific instructor requests will be considered but not guaranteed.  
  • Minimum Attendance: Mobile Fitness classes are intended for groups of 8+ participants. Smaller groups will still be charged the standard rate.  
  • Instructor Safety: If the class is being held outside of the WPEC or SAAC, the requesting group must ensure that the instructor has a safe, clear teaching space upon arrival. 
  • Instructor Substitution: If the scheduled instructor becomes unavailable, Recreation & Wellness will provide a substitute whenever possible. If no substitute is available, the class will be rescheduled at no cost.  
  • Note: Instructors are not responsible for set-up/tear down of furniture or equipment in external locations (chairs/tables must already be cleared).  

Location & Space Requirements 

  • Adequate Space: The host group is responsible for securing a location that is appropriate for the requested class type (e.g., flat surface, no hazards). If you need a space at the WPEC or SAAC, please note that we have limited space and availability, so please be flexible with your requested dates and times.  
  • Indoor vs. Outdoor: Outdoor classes are permitted, but it is highly suggested the requesting group has an indoor backup location in case of inclement weather. Make sure the necessary reservations are made for any spaces planning to be used.  
  • Access: If outside of the WPEC or SAAC, the requesting group is responsible for providing instructor access to the location (room unlocked, lights, AV if needed).  

Fees & Payment 

  • Billing: Charges will be billed directly to the requesting group before the event date to secure the instructor and date.  
  • Cancellations: Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours in advance. All mobile fitness events are non-refundable, but can be rescheduled at a later date, if needed.   
  • No-Shows: Groups that fail to show without notice will be billed in full. All events are non-refundable.  

Program Limitations 

  • Class Types: Not all classes may be available as Mobile Fitness.  
  • Frequency: Groups requesting recurring classes must meet with Recreation & Wellness staff to discuss scheduling and cost structure.  

 

Equipment & Liability 

  • Responsibility: The requesting group is responsible for ensuring participants follow instructor guidance and use equipment safely.  
  • Waivers: All participants must sign an electronic waiver (or already have an active waiver on file with Recreation & Wellness).  
  • Equipment Use: Equipment is provided for any mobile fitness classes scheduled through Recreation & Wellness and held at the WPEC or SAAC. For events outside of these facilities, groups must submit a rental request. 
  •  Equipment delivery: Delivery to off-site locations is available for a flat $50 fee. Heavy or large-quantity deliveries may be an additional charge.  
  • Equipment Return: Any rented equipment must be returned in good condition and properly sanitized after use. Lost, stolen, or damaged items will be billed at the replacement cost listed in the Mobile Fitness Equipment Rental Rates chart.  
  • Set-up & Break Down Responsibility: Rented equipment will either be picked up or delivered in bulk, and the requesting group is responsible for set-up and return in the same condition.
